Hello there chaps!
Now, I still don’t trust those OIA scoundrels but I think we should have something now that will stop them babbling on about spying! I have just come back from a debrief with Olivia Sharpclaws and Horace the Wildcat after Olivia’s trip to the future Rainforest Raft, it was a very interesting chat and no mistake! Olivia and Horace seem to be sure that the Chaps at the Toca are being quite open and forthcoming with their information and she has come up with some interesting recommendations.
Luckily for us all, Olivia is an efficient young otter and she handed me a written report of the whole thing at the end of the meeting, so I am going to show you that. Far easier that way I can tell you!
Olivia Sharpclaws Brazilian Surveillance report 1
Part 1 preparation:
The preparation was far more in depth than I was expecting, I had to learn about how to synchronise the time stream to my swimming speed, the old direction “swim like billy-o” has recently been replaced with a more moderate “swim at level 6” which is far less descriptive but Brian insists that a properly calibrated numeric scale with stop otters hurtling around through time and space at breakneck speeds! No one apart from Brian and Peter are particularly happy about it and an argument nearly broke out in the briefing! There were other intricacies of the time wheel and return to start devices that we went through but Peter and Zsofia said they could help me with those, but the swim speed was all down to me!
In addition to the technical briefing I received a briefing each from the head of the OIA and Commander Longwhiskers. These were more or less entirely contradictory and I felt it was worth a mention in this report as it was impossible to satisfy both so I have used my training and knowledge of best practice to find out what I believed was most useful.
Part 2 the expedition:
As mentioned there was a lot of preparation for this expedition, sadly at no point did anyone warn me of the incomparable feeling that comes along with the travel itself! First there is the swimming which is par for the course for an otter, but then you get the blurry feeling of having more paws than you can count and them all moving at different speeds that coupled with the certainty that your tail is going to arrive before you and will have somehow replaced your whiskers! Somehow after all that we all bobbed to the surface of a huge river, well I bobbed to the surface anyway with a definite tumbling action, Peter and Zsofia however seemed to be swimming along at a nice leisurely pace, and somehow managed to catch me between them!
Once I had regained my bearing, we made our way to the Toca where we were met by Camila and Almirante Lontra Bigodegigantes who seemed not one bit surprised to see us! They greeted Zsofia and Peter like long lost relatives, and were extremely welcoming to me. They did a creditable job of pretending they didn’t know who I was but you know we are trained to spot deception, it was clear to me they were very well acquainted with me and we might even be good pals!
This time travel business is very difficult to get your head around you know! I went to view the timeline that Peter and Camilla are working on and it extents around multiple walls of one lab and into a couple of corridors! It is more or less one timeline, but everyone concerned is coming at it from different directions!
Once I hade been shown around the general living quarters and labs of the Toca, Almirante Bigodegigantes and I headed to the security scrape to meet up with Jaime Costasfortes the head of security for the Rainforest Raft. We discussed the extra security issues that occur when taking into account time travel, and he showed me around their security HQ. I discovered that they have interesting methods of keeping the timeline straight with respect to security. After all we can’t go around pre-empting security problems and the like or we would be treading on very dangerous ground. Equally they are very careful to keep that information away from the general population! Almirante Bigodegigantes himself is aware of both sides of the equation, but any future knowledge from the UK Raft’s time teams are kept strictly under lock and key so that noone can use it for underhanded purposes.
It was a fascinating insight and some of the protocols may need to be implemented in the Holt if we continue to galivant through time and space all willy nilly (as Commander Longwhiskers puts it)
Conclusions:
The security team at the Rainforest Raft are extremely efficient with some useful information protocols which could be implemented in the UK Raft.
Everyone I met seemed to be very forthcoming with information and noone seemed to be in any way apocalyptic.
The level of future knowledge help by the Rainforest Raft scientists seems to far outweigh our own, but the security and self discipline shown seem to stop them causing temporal rifts and suchlike, which is all to the good as we do not need any sort of problem with causality or possible annihilation situations like the one we narrowly averted with the Cedrics!
