Welcome to the team

Good day chaps!

We have been having a lovely time in the Holt this week, there are midwinter decorations going up in all the departments and event planning otters are bustling around making preparations for the big midwinter celebration. I may have mentioned it, it is going to be quite a celebration this year you know, what with all the new discoveries to celebrate. I am very much looking forward to it, it is going to be splendid!

Aside from party business, there has been quite a lot of excitement around here in the temporal department. After my call for volunteers to test out the time flow tank I have had otters flooding in here from all corners of the Holt and countless more emails and calls from other very fine otters around the country.  We even had an application or two from some humans. There been interviews and earnest conversations all over the place, and I have personally met all of the shortlisted candidates. Fantastic otters, every one of them. We managed to narrow the field eventually, the temporal team used some very strict selection criteria, and sophisticated questioning techniques, or so I am told. I handled the more down to earth considerations, it is imperative to know the favourite drink of the team I say,  and their opinions on the otter ball championships. Not to mention their favourite sandwich, vital information that!

So without further ado, I would like to present to you Peter Paddlefoot and Zsofia Smoothcoat.

Peter Paddlefoot is a serious young otter, very fond of pike in pitta bread. Not only that but he has been involved in exploration since he was at the Severn University. He was part of the team that discovered the habitat of the UK’s ancient otters. He is an expert in scientific method and detail observation. Very keen on writing things down.

Zsofia Smoothcoat is a brilliant and bold otter from the Danube University in Budapest. She joined the UK raft just after graduating and has been in the pioneering Holt expansion team ever since. She has been part of many information gathering expeditions of a more adventurous nature. She has a penchant for carp I am told and a tendency to wear a fine hat.

Both very fine additions to the temporal exploration team! Or should I say pioneers of the temporal exploration team, yes, pioneers, that’s the right term! Very glad to have them on board I can tell you! Who knows what sort of exciting ideas for snacks and marvellous sandwiches we will find with all this time travel!

  1. Brave young otters, one and all! I agree that it is very important to know the favourite drink and sandwich of any otters in your team. This makes preparing for picnics and refreshments in general much easier. Also, what if they like really strange things? That would not be helpful. Zspofia has the most marvellous hat and from this alone I can tell she will be a major asset to the team!

    1. Exactly!! Liking strange things would be inconvenient and difficult for picnic situations!
I think zsofias hat was a big part of her getting their job. It is very definitely an explorers hat!
I cant wait to hear about their first adventure! I am hoping it won’t be too dramatic but these things tend to surprise even me…

      1. I have got jobs before, purely based on my ability to wear a hat. It’s a sensible criteria! And sandwiches and drinks are very important. I am so excited for the first adventure! Will there be dragons? Otters of the Apocalypse? A wildcat? So many possibilities!
